Introduction to Lyon Trip
A Lyon trip has its own charm that makes it distinct from Paris. Lyon, which competes with Marseille for the title of France’s second city, is known for its gastronomy. I flew in through Lyon airport for my trip to the southeast of France and combined a trip to Lyon with a trip to Annecy and Chamonix. I’m going to share my top tips and itinerary for a beautiful and enjoyable trip to Lyon. Let’s start my trip to Lyon.

Lyon Trip Tips
Transportation Tickets
Types of Tickets
- Carnet (10 tickets/€18) and 24-hour pass (€6.7) are your best options. These tickets include the funicular, so they are a must-have! Personally, I recommend the 24-hour pass, which is valid for 24 hours from the time of purchase (e.g., if you buy it at 1 PM, it’s valid until 1 PM the next day). Tickets can be purchased at metro and bus stations. Note that the bus stop at Part-Dieu station often sells out, so head to the metro station if necessary.
