Getting to Favignana

Favignana, located off the west coast of Sicily, can be accessed via a ferry from the port city of Trapani. I rented a car from Palermo, stayed overnight in Trapani, and parked my car here before heading to Favignana for a delightful 1-night, 2-day trip. It’s crucial to park in designated areas to avoid any parking issues.

There wasn’t much parking around the port, but this was the only place I found that was close and reasonably priced.

The service is less frequent, but you can get there not only from Trapani, but also from Marsala Levanto NAPLES and more!

Favignana Travel Highlights

Upon arriving in Favignana, you will find yourself surrounded by local eateries, tour agencies, and beautiful beaches. I explored the island on an electric bike, starting from Beach 2 to Beach 3. Here’s a map of the key spots:

2. Check with your accommodation for bike rentals: Some places, like Il Mulino Resort Favignana where I stayed, offer bike rentals which can be more convenient and cost-effective.
3. Bring a beach mat: You’ll want to stop frequently to enjoy the stunning beaches, and a beach mat can make these breaks more comfortable.
4. Pack swim aids if needed: Even if you’re not a confident swimmer, Favignana’s inviting waters are hard to resist, so bring floatation aids if necessary.

For 2 days trip

I recommend spending at least 2 days in Favignana to fully enjoy its beauty. Here’s a suggested itinerary:

• Day 2: Boat tour to explore the surrounding waters

For a one-day trip

it’s best to arrive as early as possible to make the most of your time. Choose between an electric bike tour or a boat tour. Both options offer unique perspectives of the island, but if you have to choose one, I personally recommend the electric bike tour. This allows you to explore the island at your own pace and stop at various beaches and scenic spots.

For those planning to stay for 3 days or more

you can enjoy both the electric bike tour and the boat tour. In addition, you’ll have more time to relax and take in the beautiful scenery. Here’s a more detailed itinerary for a longer stay:

• Day 1: Electric bike tour of the island, visiting the main beaches and stopping at local eateries.
• Day 2: Boat tour to explore the surrounding waters, including stops at various coves and snorkeling spots.
• Day 3: Spend the day at leisure, either revisiting your favorite spots on the bike or taking another boat tour. Alternatively, you can chill and relax on the beaches, enjoying the stunning views and the serene atmosphere of Favignana.
